On June 12, 2020, El Colegio de la Frontera Norte in Tijuana, Mexico, hosted the virtual premiere of Waylaid in Tijuana followed by a panel discussion with Juan Antonio Del Monte (COLEF), Soraya Vázquez (Al Otro Lado), and the production team. Around 140 people attended the screening and 70 participated in the panel discussion. The topics included updates on the situation facing migrants in Tijuana and reflections on the filming and production process.
